Three Peaks

The Three Peaks Mountain Race is a favourite of many Dunedin runners and really show cases what Dunedin has to offer so close to the City centre. Included now is a recreational walk or relay run and a shorter race of 11km which takes in the first 2 summits.
The main 26km run doubles as the Athletics Otago trail running Champs for runners that are registered with the organisation.
All of the events start in Woodhaugh st, not far from George street, and finish either at Swampy Summit or Chingford park.
There is a great atmosphere at the finish with public being looked after with a BBQ and coffee cart. Weary competitors get a free sausage and get a chance to discuss the race with others in the beautiful grounds of Chingford Park.
It is run entirely by volunteers, mainly from the small Leith Harriers and Athletic club. All proceeds are put back into developing the club.
