Peter Shone

Peter Shone is a young enthusiastic semi-retired 72 year old father of 3 sons and "Pops" to 4 delightful grandchildren.

He was born in Auckland, brought up in Christchurch and has resided in Dunedin for the last 40 years.

Peter has had a multi-faceted working life starting out as a bank teller, then a meteorological observer/assistant forecaster (17 months on Campbell Island and 7 months on Willis Island in the North Coral Sea), social worker, tax man, gardener, part-time bus driver and an announcer on Radio Dunedin.

Peter's interests include choral singing, painting (art), gardening and swimming in summertime.

Peter comes from great broadcasting stock as his uncle Phil (Shone) was an iconic trend-setting broadcaster on 1ZB in the 1940s and 50s
