This year's Midwinter Carnival will be held in Dunedin, New Zealand, on Saturday 22nd June.
The Midwinter Carnival is an annual event which celebrates our local seasons.
It takes place on the Saturday closest to the Winter Solstice (longest night of the year) in Dunedin's Octagon.
The event starts at 5:30pm, at which time a live band, local foodstalls, a merry-go-round and other entertainment will be present.
At 6pm the Carnival Procession starts. The procession involves approximately 1000 people, including local families who have made their own lanterns at our workshops, giant lanterns, stilt-walkers, dancers, drummers and more!
Following the procession there is a fireworks display and more music and food.
This is a donation-entry event. Come along and enjoy!
Celebrate the seasons with us!
