Transition Expo 2019

The Transition Expo Team would like to cordially invite students with disabilities and their families/whanau/caregivers to partake in our annual Transition Expo. The Expo will be held on Friday 13th September 2019 from 11am - 2pm at the South Dunedin Community Hall. A follow up evening forum will be organised on Thursday 19th September from 6pm - 730pm 2019 at Community Care Trust Dunedin. The Transition Expo is created for students with disabilities and their families/whanau/caregivers. Its purpose is to raise awareness of what options students have available locally for life after school in an interactive and fun way. Students of all ages are welcomed to join our Transition Expo as we encourage people to start thinking about and planning for the transition as early as possible. A range of services/providers will be present to cover the following: • Tertiary study, • Community participation, • Vocational programmes, • Self-advocacy, • Employment, • Housing (supported living), • and Recreation ***The South Dunedin Community Hall is fully accessible, and we will provide a “quiet area” for anyone who needs to take a break from the busy hall area. The Evening Forum was created in appreciation that many families/whanau/caregivers work during the day and a separate evening forum would give them the opportunity to not miss out on the chance to gain more awareness of what a transition service does and the local options. The evening forum consists of the following: • Guest speakers, including those that have been through the transition from school • How to engage with transition services • How to start planning early • And opportunity to meet service providers and ask questions Information: Transition Expo Venue: South Dunedin Community Hall Date: Friday 13th September 2019 Time: 11am - 2pm Evening Forum Venue: Community Care Trust 278 King Edward Street Date: Thursday 19th September 2019 Time: 6pm – 730pm If you have any questions, concerns or special requests please feel free to contact Lovinia Choe at Organised by Community Care Trust- Transition Expo Team Kind regards, Lovinia Choe Transition Expo Team
